The present flag of Italy was officially adopted on 1 January, 1948. It is often known in Italy as Il Tricolore, because it's tricolored. The colors are green, white and red. The green color represents Italy's lush green plains, the white evokes the mountains covered in beautiful white snow, and the red tells the tale of the nation's spirit, vigour and the fight for independence.

Steps
# Pick a size for the flag. Make the outline in the shape a rectangle. The Italian flag is composed of three vertical bands. The bands are all the same size, so make sure that the width of the flag is easily divisible by 3. This will ensure that the bands are equal in size.

# Divide the flag into 3 equal parts. Make guidelines with a ruler over the top and bottom of the flag outline. Join them to make two vertical lines.

# Color the flag. Apply green color on the leftmost part. Paint the middle section white or leave it as is if the background is already white. Then color the last section with red.
